The last time I taught a yoga class was November 2009. I only meant to take a few months off, but with a busy work period during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, followed by a romantic engagement and planning for my fall wedding, there was barely enough time to fit in my own practice. So a few more months went by...
I spent summer 2011 driving across Canada and the US with my husband, fitting in a practice here and there (Boston, Ottawa, Grand Canyon...)
Then another major event, a move to the UAE for my job in the fall of 2011. Since my arrival, I have sampled a few yoga studios and I have tried to cultivate my sadhana again...still trying.
Ensha'allah I will start teaching again in Dubai, when the time is right. For now, seeking balance during a busy and challenging time in my life, thankful for the space and release that my personal practices bring me.

Back into the groove

It's been almost one year since I last taught a yoga class. I've taken this time to focus on my own practice, to sample new styles, new poses. I have been fortunate to receive the teachings of many wonderful instructors in the Vancouver community. On a personal level, I've also taken this time to nuture my relationship with my new husband.
This shift into autumn has also signalled a shift in me and I am excited to return to teaching. I'm starting off small, building a foundation, just as I would build a foundation for a more challenging arm balance, starting with the basics, finding inner strength, starting from the ground up.
What is calling me right now is the opportunity to teach karma community classes again, to share the joy and benefits of yoga in wonderfully receptive environment and to be inspired by my students again.
It's good to be home.

Settling into winter practice

It's been a busy fall in Vancouver, teaching Yoga for Relaxation & Yoga for Snowboarders/Skiers at the Vancouver School Board this term. What lovely students, whom I will miss while taking a break from teaching for the next 9 to 12 mths. It's a dedicated time for my own practice - curious to see how I will progress, how I will change, and what I will bring to my classes when I return to teaching again!
